Getting to Know a Logician: Gil Paradis

About “Getting to Know a Logician”: This monthly series is about the people who make up Contract Logix – aka Logicians. What is and why are we Logicians? Logix is in our name and our DNA. It means something and is important to us. Logic is the science of reasoning and relationships between ideas. A logician is an expert in or student of logic. They are active in the fields of math and science. Here at Contract Logix we believe data is your most valuable contract management asset and logic is key to transforming it into actionable business intelligence. That’s why we are Logicians!

“Start somewhere and see where you can take it. Don’t worry about everything being perfect or having it all planned out,” says Customer Success Manager Gil Paradis – advice that has helped him reach his goals here at Contract Logix. Gil has been a part of the Contract Logix family for 8 months now, guiding and assisting our customers whenever possible, all while maximizing the value added to their organization through our industry leading intelligent contract management software.

During a typical workday, Gil advises clients on contract management best practices, works with the data migration team to coordinate customer migrations, checks in on the status, and sees what needs to be done in order to move the project forward. Furthermore, Gil finishes every workday with a plan set for the next day. Being aware of scheduled meetings, knowing which customers to check in on and which projects to work on prior to coming in the next day are just a few of the many responsibilities Gil takes on daily here at Contract Logix.

A product feature that really stands out to Gil as a differentiator is how configurable the software truly is. Gil favors organization and likes the fact that one can organize the platform in different ways to fit their needs, whether it be how they name their fields, or how they want to fill up the real estate of their system. For example, in Gil’s test environment, his organizations are made up of US Colleges and Universities, and his custom objects are made up of various scholarships available at those schools.

Here at Contract Logix, we want our customers to receive immediate value from the product. During initial discussions with clients, Gil preaches minimalism when applicable. The software is very powerful, but that doesn’t mean every client should be using every feature. Gil recently assisted a client who was attempting to replicate their organizational ladder with the platform’s “Organizational Hierarchy,” where he took a step back with them and helped identify their end goal. Ultimately, they simply needed to restrict access to only a handful of users and modified their complex ten-layer hierarchy down to a two-layer hierarchy. If the use case is simple enough, the software can be too.

Gil enjoys classic cinema and his favorite movie quote is: “Nil desperandum, my dear lady. Across the desert lies the promised land. Goodbye, Mrs. Gloop. Adieu! Aufwiedersehen! Gesundheit. Farewell.” – Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. If ever given the opportunity, Gil would love to host Saturday Night Live.

Three things you may not know about Gil…

  1. Gil has an insanely good memory.
  2. Gil is going to play ‘Survivor’ someday.
  3. When Gil was young, he had the original Nintendo Console. He was always very good at the games, but his family noticed that he was always holding the controller upside down. To this very day, Gil can only successfully play any video game by holding the controller the wrong way.

A big thank you to Gil Paradis for letting us get to know him better both inside and outside of the office.
